This is a 2022 variant of the official Home Bar Guide To Tropical Cocktails tiki pendant. The design of a Bumatay tiki holding a mid century modern butterfly roof house was originally chosen by "Trader" Tom Morgan and Kelly "Hiphipahula" Reilly but this version has the house swapped for an Oceanic Arts emblem to commemorate Bob and Leroy's retirement in 2022. Sculpted and manufactured by Tiki Al. Beads chosen and strung by Trader Tom. Tiki Al made a small handful of this variant. He also made an Oceanic Arts Moai Pendant holding the same emblem.

This 10" hula figure was produced in 1973 by HIP (Hawaiian Island Products). There was also a smaller 6" version made in black lava. Additionally, there have been later non-HIP reproductions made in different colors. Originals were made with the HIP sticker on the back. See photo. The sticker reads: "The Hula Princess: While journeying to his Summer Court, King Liholiho stopped at the Sacred Springs to bathe, when out of the waters rose a maiden clad only in the beauty of her nakedness. It was love at first sight! Thus began the Legend of the Nude Princess."

I have always loved the drama, passion and contrast of lava flowing into water. It is sensual and intimidating yet irresistible and alluring. I studied lava formations and flows extensively when I designed the scenes for the “Journey to the Center of the Earth” Disney ride for Tokyo Disney Sea.
This escape art image is about a story I thought of based on the Hawaiian goddess Pele. I imagined some adventurous young rogue that made a sort of pact with Pele. He would promise his devotion to her and monogamous spirit. She, in turn promises to protect him from mortal harm as he frolics in the sea and lives cradled high above Pele’s volcanic creations.
Note the wicker chair and Mai Tai, where he sits overlooking the horizon and boasts his pompous status. His little shack is forever safe... and he is free to live out his carefree days. As long as he remains loyal, he is protected by Pele’s Promise.
The edition is limited to only 250 canvas giclees, which are printed on certified poly-cotton canvas, using archival pigmented inks.
25 Artist Proof canvases are offered in addition to the limited edition run, where the artist adds paint to the front of the reproduction. Thor takes hand-highlighting very seriously; adding paint to truly enhance the luminosity of the print using translucent glazes an opaque paints to the shadows and highlights in the piece. The artists personal touch to each Limited Edition Artist Proof make these paintings highly collectible.
