Golden Voiced Ernie Menehune, "Hawaii's Sun Tanned Irishman" features 12 songs from Ernie and his Polynesian friends (Huey Moore, Kaena Silva, J.P. Smith and Louie Unga). Track number one is the Hawaiian classic "Danny Boy", with the remaining vocal and instrumental tracks perhaps a bit more "Tiki adjacent". Ernie was a brother of famous Hawaiian crooner Larry Rivera.
One sentence review: Ernie does have a very pleasant voice and an impressive vocal range, but the record is more "lightly Hawaiian themed" than "tiki".
Notes:
- Ernie's estate also offers a Tiki mug and mp3 music collections at https://digitiki.com/erniemug.html
- A 2024 filmed symposium on Ernie's life is available on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DDRQXOrJdNg
- His unsigned records go for more money than his signed ones do, as they are far more uncommon. Apparently he loved working the crowd after his shows and signed the majority of the record purchases for folks on the spot.
