Ke’a Marquesan figures typically range from 4 inches to just over a foot tall, with various levels of polish/quality for the carving. Originals are commonly stone with the humanoid figure representing a deity or ancestor. The smaller reproductions made for the tourist trade are often wood, unmarked, and crudely finished.
These idols have large/elongated heads and the usual "Marquesan goggle" eyes. Some versions have a small hole in their clasped fists to insert a wood knife or war club.
