This girthy fellow (15" tall by 3.5 inches wide) has a rather mournful face and a very stiff lower lip. He sports gold tone wash in various places around the body, the word HAWAII appears in large raised letters on his back, and the candle is textured to appear like typical wood souvenir Tiki idols. Smaller versions are often less detailed, and feature just a head + neck (no body).
As you burn these sorts of candles down, wax tears will tumble out of the eye sockets due to a channel built into the candle, leading upwards from the eyes! These were marketed in various sizes and forms in the 1970's as "Crying" or "Weeping" Tikis.
The Aloha Candle Company made weeping Tiki candles, as has Hawaiian Candles (Hawaiian Exotic Products Inc.) and a company related to marketing Hilo Hattie's image.
