Have been here a few times and I really like the description from the commenter below - "It's not a tiki bar, it's a tiki restaurant with a bar and it's beautiful". I'd that it's also a "hotel bar" so there are corporate bartenders more than knowledgable tikiphiles. There's also a TV at the bar, which is jarring after the amazing entrance, but apparently the hotel guests requested it. With that being said, definitely worth it for the history and decor. The Mai Tai's (shaken with limes so bitter) were not good compared to the Emeryville location. I liked the Navy Grog a lot more than the Mai Tai. Love the Chinese Ovens. A must visit, but you might have to get lucky to get amazing drinks that night.

I was here for a Popular Culture Association conference while I was attending school to earn my PhD. Stopped by Trader Vic's with a couple of fellow students.

I've been in three times in the past three years, and the experience has been at least "good" each time. One time the food & service was a little off. Something was going on with the staff that night.
It's not a Tiki Bar; it's a Tiki restaurant with a bar, and it is BEAUTIFUL. You won't find a more gorgeous place in Atlanta of any theme. Its biggest problem is that it's in the basement of a huge convention hotel - so it feasts or famines on the convention business in the immediate area. It is somewhat inconvenient to visit if you're not staying nearby.
It's Trader Vics, so the mugs are awesome, and the drinks are too. Get in there and enjoy the place before some unfortunate turn of events closes this beauty down.
