In 1938, twin brothers Don and Ross Winton formed their own company TWIN WINTON STUDIOS. From 1938 until 1941, Twin Winton manufactured a small line of animals. In 1942, Don and Ross enlisted for WWII and Don returned in 1946 to Pasadena where he sculpted (and later married) the 1947 Rose Queen. In 1947, Don introduced his popular Hillbilly line of ceramics inspired by the Paul Webb cartoon series -- and this line lasted 3 years until 1950. In the early 1950s he introduced a series of wood finish cookie jars which were a mainstay through the 70s. Don created 15,000 items in his lifetime, including side projects like the Emmy Award, the Academy of Country Music Award, and the Mickey Mouse and Snoopy phones. Don was a freelance sculptor from 1952 until his death in 2007. His work with Disney started in 1954 until his death.
