This piece is often identified as a vase. Some have even gone so far as to say it is a short beer bong. Originally, there was a wooden holder to stabilize it. This piece is part of a larger line of products of the same style. All of these came in a variety of colors. Several items had a decal on the bottom labeled "Tahiji". The Tahiji label is on page vii of the introduction to Tiki Quest. I've also seen a lighter brown version of this mug on e-Bay marked "Rossini" with a red and gold sticker bearing the image of a winged horse. A hibachi and patio light in this design can be seen on page 159 of Tiki Quest at the top of the page. A similar mug appears on page 57 of Tiki Quest at the top right, and another, shorter mug, is on page 10 at the bottom left of the page. This shorter mug was used at the Hawaiian Inn in Daytona. There are examples of the two shorter mugs (green & brown versions) and a matching salt and pepper set in other collections on Ooga Mooga.

Tall Serene Face Asian-Themed Mug Brown
in 6 collections
This tall brown mug has a serene face toward the bottom and intricate markings all the way up the remainder of the mug. Similar to the design used at the Hawaiian Inn in Florida, this version has slightly boxy ears protruding from the sides of the head. The tall version came with a wooden stand originally and was made in more than one glaze color.
