Harvey's Top of the Wheel
2 July 2026
Harvey’s is now Caesar's Republic, but you can still make it to the top floor where they now have a steakhouse to see these framed posters from the Top of the Wheel. We also went to the Mountain Tower’s 11th and 12th floors to stand where the Sneaky Tiki had been, and it is under construction as of 7/2/26.

Harvey's Top of the Wheel
Stateline, Nevada, United States (Closed)
Opened in 1963, Harvey's original Mountain Tower was 11 stories tall and the first high-rise hotel at Lake Tahoe, featuring the Top of the Wheel Polynesian restaurant on the top floor. A glass elevator on the outside of the hotel tower took customers from the casino floor directly to the Top of the Wheel. The Tiki-themed decor for the Top of the Wheel was designed by Eli Hedley, the famous California beachcomber and artist who also designed Tiki shops at Disneyland, as well as Tiki restaurants and bars throughout California, Nevada, and around the country.
The restaurant's logo was the "Sneaky Tiki." Mugs from Harvey's are still quite easy to come by although the salt & pepper shakers remain rare.
The lower floors of the casino were heavily damaged by a bombing in 1980, part of a failed extortion attempt. The Top of the Wheel closed sometime in the early-to-mid 1980s. Harvey's Lake Tahoe has since rebuilt, but there is no tiki bar there today.
