Kongo-Kai #7
aka. PNG Baining Fire Dancer Mask Mug Super Limited Edition Kongo-Kai
Designed by Michael Shigeru Sbicca for Jungle Modern. "Kongo-Kai" draws a little bit of inspiration from everywhere. The original piece (pictured) was a freestyle carving that I did on one of my Baining Fire Dancer mugs, so the form is very much PNG, while the design reminds me of a vintage Mai-Kai mug. When combined with the black/yellow color pallete, it reminds me more of a whimsical African piece, than PNG"
measure approximately 7.25" wide x 6.5" wide and hold about 18 fluid ounces.

Kongo-Kai
aka PNG Baining Fire Dancer Mask Mug Super Limited Edition Kongo-Kai in 2 collections
This Kongo-Kai version of a Fire Dancer Mask Tiki mug is inspired by the Baining people of Papua New Guinea and a freestyle carving Michael did on one of his earlier Baining Fire Dancer mugs, so the form is very much PNG, while the design is reminiscent of a vintage Mai-Kai mug. When combined with the black/yellow color pallete, it resembles, Michael says, a whimsical African piece, more than PNG. They're all handcarved and glazed and each one is unique. High fired to 2380 degrees and made with food-safe glazes.
