This is a work in progress and there may be some bugs.

Ended up in Washington D.C. a lot for work conferences and this was a fun place to bring people who hadn't been to a Tiki bar.

Was usually busy, but the vibe was pretty chill either at the beginning or the end of the night. I didn't care for their standard drink menu (my first visit notes: 1) Mai Tai: first sip tastes like burning; 2) Truck Bed Funeral: tastes like smoke; 3) Jungle Room Experience: light, cool parrot mug), but my wife found out they had a "secret" menu of TIki classics that were better and I stuck to those on future visits.

The overall experience was always very good, not great, but it was in a good location near public transit and Ben's Chili bowl, so I have a ton of great memories there and will definitely miss it.

Tiki Bar

Archipelago

Washington, District of Columbia, United States (Closed)

Archipelago opened in Washington, DC in February 2016. The bar's owners collected bits and bobs of Polynesian Pop in preparation for opening the bar, including a shrine to Magnum, PI. The focus was on cocktails, including both classics and modern inventions, but there was a small menu of food, as well. The decor included a painted mural with palm scenes, and some thatch and lauhala touches.

Archipelago closed its doors on 8/26/2023.
