Trader Vic's Trolley Car Mug

This was a unique mug I found on ebay many years ago. It is a cable car with a flat brown exterior stain and interior white glaze. Trader Vic's is seen in raised relief one side while San Francisco is seen in raised relief on the opposite side.

Trader Dick's Moai Ashtray

This is a Trader Dick's Moai ashtray from Sparks, Nevada. I love this little thing and used it as a business card holder on my desk until someone almost broke it.

Tiki Beaver Mug
Thurston Howell III
This is a unique mug that looks like a cross between a Hawaiian Ku and a Beaver. The brown glaze on this mug is rather thin while the white interior glaze shows signs of checking or crackeling. The bottom of the mug has the words "Tiki Trapper" incised in a rustic font. Probably produced by the Blue Mountain Pottery in Collingwood, Ontario, this mug was associated with the Tiki Trapper Restaurant located in Hamilton, Ontario. It opened in the late 1950s and closed in the early 1980s. I found this mug in a thrift/junk store near Ogsdenburg, New York. I had no idea it was considered "Tiki" at first...I bought it primarily because I like beaver.

Steve Crane Scorpion Bowl
Thurston Howell III
This very cool bowl was manufactured by Steve Crane Associates and depicts three brown tikis surrounding a rectangular bowl. The outside of the bowl is colorfully decorated with leaves. The interior has a light tint of blue in a overall white glaze. This is considered one of the rarest of the Steve Crane Cocktail bowls.

Rough Coconut Mug
Thurston Howell III
This is interesting coconut mug that has a unique design that sadly only permits it being used in conjunction with a straw. The interior is white while the exterior is rough with a unique brownish-green glaze. Three indented spots appear to be realistic coconut features. The bottom of the mug is imprinted with the words "Made Exclusively for the Akua Kai". There are no other unique features except that it feels real good to hold it. Cool mug.

Rough exterior with mottled brown/green glaze

Akua Kai Marquesan Stemmed Martini Glass Prototype
Thurston Howell III
I found this orginally associated with an unusual coconut mug. Both of these items have the name "Akua Kai" associated with them. This stemmed glass seems to depict a Marquesan tiki. The glaze appears to be yellowish-green with a light blue accent glaze that could have been associated with a second firing. I was told that this was an experimental glaze and that most of these glasses, when located, are associated with a medium-dark glossy green glaze. This guy is too cute and anatomically correct. An outrigger canoe is depicted in raised relief on the back of the tiki.
