TikiLand Mug Society released this puffer fish mug design on December 29th, 2020. It was a limited edition of 300 in a light beige and brown glaze combination with green interior. Named after the Coco Puffs breakfast cereal and a play on words because it is meant to be a hybrid coconut shaped like a puffer fish. Only 75 of the initial pieces were released at first, with the rest to be issued when available.
Prior to this, Smuggler's Cove also produced a limited edition of 100 of this same puffer fish mug design in green and blue glaze that included a 8" hand-netted fish bowl on December 8th, 2020. Called the "Pufferfloat", this version is meant to resemble the puffer fish float lamps made by Oceanic Arts and others.
From TikiLand Trading:
"Coco Puff was born the way all coconuts are born, from a tropical paradise palm tree swaying to the warm breeze over the teal blue lagoon.
One day a small monkey in a palm frond hat was playing in the coco palm and knocked this coconut free and it transformed into a lil puffer fish right before his eyes as it kerplunked into the lagoon.
This coconut was born to be different and free, riding the currents throughout paradise and into your hands.
This ceramic tiki mug is the glazed in vintage tiki heyday style wood stain satin finish, and the beverage openings vary, but is no less than 2.75 x 2.25 inches, and is on the backside. This mug holds about 32 fluid ounces!"
