This is a handled coffee mug modeled after a famous vintage tiki attributed to Mexican artist Deme Chavez (carved from South American hardwood in the 1950s) which stood proudly in the Hanalei Hotel garden atrium for decades but now has a new home at False Idol. Tiki Oasis used to take place at the Hanalei Hotel, so this mug is a nostalgic look back at an iconic figure from the event's past celebrating 25 years.
Commemorating the August 6th - August 10th, 2025 Tiki Oasis, held at the Town & Country Resort in San Diego, California.
This is a riff on the official tiki mug created for the event which was a full-body version of the tiki holding a coin.
This is just the head, with a handle on the reverse. Brown exterior glaze with orange interior.
Created by John Mulder of Eekum Bookum. Later named "Coffee with Ku" and sold through website for $70 each.
There is also a blue and white version that was released subsequently at Circa Caliente 2025.
