"Sun Bum is not your average sun care brand. Centered around surf culture, Sun Bum is edgy, but with its welcoming attitude and a deep commitment to the community, the brand has tons of heart. Some of the first to stock their shelves with Sun Bum’s products back in 2010 were the local surf shops, many of whom support the company today. To recognize the impact of their early contribution to the company’s success, Sun Bum formed the 'Founder’s Club,' and gives members a totally unique gift every year.
In 2023, we gifted Founders Club members a limited edition ceramic tiki mug. My art director [Robert Scott] partnered with the reputable Tiki Farm to execute his design based on Sun Bum’s logo－a stoic ape named Sonny. Design elements of the mug reflect our brand’s core: Sonny’s crown of bananas speaks to our sun screen’s beloved banana scent, the turtle is a nod to our Hawaii Act 104 Reef Compliant formulas, and the reference to Wilson from 'Cast Away' is just one example of Sun Bum’s cheeky sense of humor.
Mugs used to serve the 'Rad Banana Jamma' : 1.5 oz Rum-Bar Overproof White Rum, .25 oz Clemente Shrubb, .5 oz Ypioca Oro Cachaca, .75 oz orange juice, .5 oz Drillaud Banana liqueur, 1 oz vanilla syrup, 1 oz lime juice, .5 oz Giffard Banane du Brazil."
