Tiki Ashtray - Turquoise Blue - by Ken Holewczynski - for Hidden Harbor
in 0 collections
From Hidden Harbor:
"These custom Hidden Harbor ceramic ashtrays were designed and produced in South Bend, Indiana by our buddy Ken at House of Tabu.
This fun little project was inspired by an ashtray used at the legendary Kona-Kai Polynesian restaurant in Philadelphia. The original ashtray appears in several of Sven Kirsten’s books and, like the long-gone Kona-Kai itself - opened in 1961 with a design by famed L.A. firm Armet & Davis - has always intrigued us.
The ashtray‘s design is based on our signature Hawaiian-style tiki by Crazy Al. Only 25 pieces were produced in each of the two pictured glazes: turquoise and seafoam green. Ashtrays will be released this Saturday to dine-in guests, cost of $45 apiece, limit one per customer. Any unsold pieces will then be available in our retail shop the next day and in our online shop on Monday, May 3, starting at 1:00 p.m. Eastern."

Kon Tiki Rock Mug - Tan - by Barconic
aka Unauthorized Tiki Pop Fever I Mug in 2 collections
This is a mug shaped like a Marquesan head with wide nostrils and a large closed grin baring rows of square teeth that wrap around to the sides. Top rim has a traditional v-shaped pattern. The original design of this mug was both designed and manufactured by Bai Tiki for the first ever Tiki Pop Fever event (June 26-28, 2015 at Kon Tiki Village in San Tropez, France). This version is unauthorized and the marking has been changed with script at the front bottom reading "KON TIKI" and on the back reading "KON TIKI BE HAPPY".
It is NOT, as attested on the Barconic website, modeled after anything having to do with Thor Heyerdahl's Kon Tiki Expedition. The tiki face on the sail of the Kon Tiki expedition raft (technically the Peruvian god, Viracocha) looked totally different.
As a wholesaler, BarConic buys inventory for low prices from overseas where the copyright laws are not enforced. This mug is one of several designs BarConic has distributed and which do not reimburse the original artists and manufacturer.

Dorothy - Second Edition - Fiesta Orange - by Pete Klockau and One Hundred 80 Degrees - for the Black Lagoon Room and At Random
in 1 collection
From The Black Lagoon Room:
"Well known across the Midwest for their absolutely delicious ice cream drinks (that cocktail genre being a certified Wisconsin staple) At Random is a local must-visit rite of passage, and a gateway to a different time. Rat Pack on the stereo, a hand-crafted cocktail confection in front of you shared with the one you love, sunken into the rich, cozy avocado green Naugahyde booths and with just the perfect dim, romantic amber lighting, a visit to At Random is an experience unlike any other.
The centerpiece of the lounge area in the bar is 'Dorothy,' an interesting local artifact in and of herself. When we were asked to design the bar's VERY FIRST sculpted mug, we could think of no better subject than this iconic statue. The mug depicts Dorothy against a natural rock wall with exotic tropical plants around the base. The reverse features the bar's logo, location, and established date.
Each mug stands 5 inches tall, features a brand new Fiesta Orange glaze, and holds 15oz of your favorite beverage (may we suggest a Mai Tai, which is what comes served in the mug when you visit the bar!)."
This mug was preceded by a blue first edition.
