Birdman Textured Volcano Bowl - by Paul Nielsen - for Munktiki
in 0 collections
This is a custom hand-built volcano bowl that has a single blue birdman sitting on the rim of the bowl overlooking a small, coned volcano structure located in the bottom middle of a shiny dark blue glazed interior. The bowl has a half inch pinched rim and is supported by four pointy pegged legs. The outside of the bowl has a rough sandy beach appearance and is glazed in tan with a subtle light green wash.
This bowl measures approximately 4.75" high from the top of the head of the birdman and is about 7.5" wide.
This volcano bowl was produced around 2008 when Paul Nielson was producing custom handmade bowls that were either one-of-a-kind or from an extremely small run of two or three.

Unauthorized Crazy Al Lucky Tiki Mug
in 1 collection
This mug appears to be an unauthorized version of the "Crazy Al Lucky Tiki Mug" (https://mytiki.life/tiki-mugs/crazy-al-lucky-tiki-mug).
The tiki is holding a stack of four skulls and has a pineapple on his forehead and a horseshoe on his chin. His eyes are squinted shut and his mouth is open exposing his teeth and tongue.
Notable in this knockoff is the lack of any maker markings, and much lower detail around the mouth and on the stack of skulls.
Produced @ 2019 - early 2020s.
The Lost Lei in Austin used a green wipe version of this unauthorized design as well.

Doc's Place Town & Country Natural Bamboo Mug
in 0 collections
This is a hi-ball mug made of natural bamboo and with a graphic of a leafy stalk of bamboo. It was pictured in their cocktail menu and shown for serving their "Pogo-Pogo" or "Martinique Voodoo" cocktails.
An unmarked version of this natural bamboo mug with same leafy graphic was used at the Aku Aku in Las Vegas and other locations. There is also a shorter version of this unmarked mug. Both unmarked designs were used at multiple locations and sold commercially in sets during the 60s and 70s. There are matching trays and pitchers as well.
This version shown below was marked, however, and the reverse was stamped "Doc's Place at the Fabulous Town & Country Toronto, Canada".
This venue also produced a second natural bamboo mug with a graphic featuring a wahine with a ukulele under a palm tree with an island scene and an outrigger canoe in the background (marked/stamped with same locale information).
