This is a gray glazed mug shaped like a volcano with maroon/red "lava" on the rim. When El Chichon erupted in 1982, it killed 2,000 nearby residents in Chiapas, Mexico, and left behind a brooding, sulfuric, acidic lake that formed when the dome collapsed into a crater and filled with water. Most people thought that the volcano had long ago gone extinct, so its eruption was quite an unpleasant surprise.
