Cat Mummy - by Biggs Tiki
in 1 collection
This mug/decanter is somewhat reminiscent of the 1960s Avon Long Necked Cat plastic blow-molded bubble bath bottles that came in several varieties and were about the same size.
The difference here, of course, is that this is ceramic and much more intricately detailed with an Egyptian Mummy theme by Biggs Tiki !
This decanter shaped vessel has a removable cat head serving as a stopper/lid.
Egyptian cat mummies actually existed in real life. They were created as religious offerings to the goddess Bastet, serving as intermediaries for prayers, or to accompany owners to the afterlife, reflecting cats' sacred status for protecting homes, symbolizing divine traits, and fulfilling roles as pets, with millions produced, often bred specifically for this purpose, and sometimes placed in elaborate sarcophagi or sold to pilgrims for dedication at cult centers like Bubastis.
Mug release was Saturday, April 5th, 2025 at 12 noon MST. 25 of 50 of the mug were released and the other half Biggs Tiki saved for Arizona Tiki Oasis later that month.
