Tiki Bars
Trader's Tiki Bar - Altrincham
United Kingdom
Opened in 2015 by Cheshire-based brothers, Anthony and Edward Prophet, in the bustling Goose Green area of Altrincham Town Centre. This venture follows the launch of the pair’s Waikiki Tiki bar in Chester eight months before (which later closed @2017-2018).
Trader's Tiki Bar has an outside patio and a more recently built upstairs area as well.
The Lanai Tiki - at Cravings Food Hall
Eastvale, California, United States
The Lanai Tiki in Eastvale, CA had a soft opening August 22nd, 2024 at Cravings Food Hall.
This venue is from Leonard Chan and, the other owner of Stowaway Tiki and The Lost Inferno in Orange County, Dominic Iapello.
The Lanai Tiki lives up to its name as an outside but mostly covered, long and narrow seating area located on the patio behind Ostrea Oyster Bar. You can sit on the patio to order or at the oyster bar.
One treat that some tikiphiles will be happy to see is some of the salvaged signage from the old Don the Beachcomber in Huntington Beach.
Glitter Gulch Tiki
Las Vegas, Nevada, United States
Opened October 4th, 2024.
This bar’s space used to be occupied by Nacho Daddy, which relocated just north to 121 North 4th Street while its team ventures into the tropical with Glitter Gulch Tiki. The name “Glitter Gulch” has been absent from downtown Las Vegas since the Topless Girls of Glitter Gulch club closed in 2016. Glitter Gulch, the decades-old nickname for the sparkly stretch of downtown, earns its way into this tiki bar with elements of neon in the ceiling and glitter in the tables.
Bamboo Ben and Son did an outstanding job on the build-out on this bar with all the traditional bamboo, thatching, and tiki carvings.
With a 90-person capacity, the venue boasts beachy lounge areas, a centerpiece bar, and a dance floor accompanied by a stage for live music.
A standout visual element also includes tiki window wraps by local artist Shawn Gatlin, also known as You Killed Me First.
There are also a huge number of mugs on display, especially from Tiki Farm.
The Lobby Tiki Bar & Grill - at The Brick House
Oceanside, California, United States
Opened at the beginning of 2025 in what used to be the lobby of Oceanside's Brick Hotel (established in 1988), The Lobby Tiki Bar & Grill replaces the former Q&A Restaurant and Oyster Bar.
Owned by Pete Cich, of Grind & Prosper Hospitality.
The space is decorated with lauhala matting on the walls, fake foliage, and tiki masks.
They have a full cocktail menu and serve cocktails in tiki mugs.
Early reviews report that although the interior decor may not be as extensive/immersive as some tiki venues, the food and cocktails are both on point and, exotica music is often played.
So, overall, a good strong start.
Tribal Island Tiki Adventure Golf
Little River, South Carolina, United States
Open since at least 2012.
Tribal Island Tiki Adventure Golf is a mini-golf facility in Little River, South Carolina. It features two 18-hole courses, Tiki Bay and Volcano Valley, with tropical scenery, waterfalls, lakes, and caverns.
South Seas Tiki & Golf Lounge - Louisville
Louisville, Kentucky, United States
Opened by Shawn Cantley in May of 2022.
This is not a traditional tiki bar in the mold of Trader Vic's or Don the Beachcomber, with a dark, intimate, and immersive space layered in Polynesian artifacts and art.
Rather, Shawn went for more of a vacation vibe pulling from Hawaiian, Jamaican, and Mexican beach and surfer culture.
South Seas is an 8,400 square foot two-story space with an additional 1,600-square-foot outdoor deck. This is huge, and aside from a traditional bar set-up flanked by booths, there is a large dining hall area, a large outdoor patio, and a miniature golf course with a cocktail theme. This course offers lots of photo opportunities with a life-size "Don" zombie, giant octopus, planet Saturn, and other fantastical props.
*NOTE: December of 2024, the location was purchased by new owners, Ruth Gao and her husband. They have expressed a desire to keep the venue as-is but add on to it with more Hawaiian-style food and tiki cocktail options moving forward.
Shipwreck 7th Tiki Bar
Fort Worth, Texas, United States
Opened August 15th, 2023.
From Owen McGrath, who previously opened The Shot Cellar, also on Foch Street, in 2019; and Michele Kettle, his business partner at ShipWreck & The Shot Cellar, who also owns a cocktail bar in Midland called The Buffalo Nickel.
Premise: "Serving new and re-imagined Tiki Cocktails for our re-telling of the great adventures of Captain Jeffrey Alexander on the immersive eternal Jade Island."
This bar has a definite slant toward pirate and nautical but plenty of tiki details as well.
It is a large space and they use quite a bit of video projection on walls and ceiling. They also use audio for different drinks and scenarios for an immersive effect that must be experienced in person to be truly appreciated.
They also have an extensive menu of cocktails, with stories behind each one, and interactive puzzles to be solved which can unlock drinks for the persistent explorer!
Hubba Hubba Tiki Tonk
Nashville, Tennessee, United States
Opened in October of 2022.
Hubba Hubba Tiki Tonk describes themselves as: "a bit tonk, a bit tiki and a lot of rock n roll."
This is accurate.
It is not a tiki bar in the strictest sense, but it does have some tiki decor, including their logo (which is based on a mass-produced 5' tall fiberglass Ku with glowing eyes who oversees a special corner inside). There are also a bunch of tiny pufferfish hung over the main bar. They do serve tiki cocktails (but only 5 classics on the menu, including the Mai Tai, Planters Punch, Blue Hawaiian, Painkiller, and Jungle Bird).
The majority of the bar is dedicated to kitsch of all kinds, including many velvet paintings of rock stars and pop figures like Elvis, Eddie Van Halen, Alf, ET, etc...
The overall take-away is of a vintage rumpus room/dive bar that's exploded with pop culture art and collectibles.
So, if you are there drinking a mai-tai while a surf rock track is playing and you are seated in a corner across from the Ku, you might find yourself having a very "tiki" experience. However, if loud hard rock is playing while you and your friends are slamming back shots under the movie poster for Terminator II, you may find yourself wondering how this could remotely be considered "tiki" at all.
Mileage will vary...
The Pearl Tiki Bar
Jackson, Mississippi, United States
The Pearl Tiki Bar officially opened on January 25, 2022.
Part of "The Block" which includes Highball Lanes, The Pearl, The Capri, Fondren Station and Fondren Yard.
Highball Lanes shares a wall and side entrance with Pearl as well.
This small tiki bar has little padded booth nooks looking out each of the front windows that have a nice assortment of colored glass fish floats hanging overhead.
One interior wall is wallpapered with a tropical leaf print, while the opposite walls have bamboo wainscotting and a tan wallpaper punctuated by various flotsam and jetsam as well as small framed tiki and nautical artworks.
Lauhala matting covered ceilings with stained oak beams. A matching dark stained oak bar and barstools.
Some rattan chairs for seating.
Not much in the way of large carvings or signature pieces, and this may not be as immersive a space as some, but it is cozy and provides a nice counter-point to the other bars and businesses on "The Block".
The Parrot Shadow Rum Bar & Tiki Cocktails - Lima
San Isidro, Peru
