Tiki Bars
Glitter Gulch Tiki
Las Vegas, Nevada, United States
Opened October 4th, 2024.
This bar’s space used to be occupied by Nacho Daddy, which relocated just north to 121 North 4th Street while its team ventures into the tropical with Glitter Gulch Tiki. The name “Glitter Gulch” has been absent from downtown Las Vegas since the Topless Girls of Glitter Gulch club closed in 2016. Glitter Gulch, the decades-old nickname for the sparkly stretch of downtown, earns its way into this tiki bar with elements of neon in the ceiling and glitter in the tables.
Bamboo Ben and Son did an outstanding job on the build-out on this bar with all the traditional bamboo, thatching, and tiki carvings.
With a 90-person capacity, the venue boasts beachy lounge areas, a centerpiece bar, and a dance floor accompanied by a stage for live music.
A standout visual element also includes tiki window wraps by local artist Shawn Gatlin, also known as You Killed Me First.
There are also a huge number of mugs on display, especially from Tiki Farm.
The Lobby Tiki Bar & Grill - at The Brick House
Oceanside, California, United States
Opened at the beginning of 2025 in what used to be the lobby of Oceanside's Brick Hotel (established in 1988), The Lobby Tiki Bar & Grill replaces the former Q&A Restaurant and Oyster Bar.
Owned by Pete Cich, of Grind & Prosper Hospitality.
The space is decorated with lauhala matting on the walls, fake foliage, and tiki masks.
They have a full cocktail menu and serve cocktails in tiki mugs.
Early reviews report that although the interior decor may not be as extensive/immersive as some tiki venues, the food and cocktails are both on point and, exotica music is often played.
So, overall, a good strong start.
Outrigger Lounge & Beach Boy Restaurant - at the C'est Bon Hotel & Convention Center
Park City, Utah, United States (Closed)
The C'est Bon opened in May 1966 and for a while was Park City's only hotel. It was sold in September 1978 to the Sweetwater group, who turned the building into condominiums, later expanding with additions to the sides and back. The complex is Sweetwater Lift Lodge Resort today, with the renovated C'est Bon portion taking up the Empire Avenue façade.
From a vintage postcard:
"The C'est Bon Hotel and Convention Center, nestled at the foot of Treasure Mountains, in the picturesque old mining town of Park City, Utah. Offering the finest in hospitality and superb service. Featuring the Outrigger Lounge and Beach Boy Restaurant, which are must stops on your skiing or summer vacation."
It appears their restaurant did change over the years. For a time it was "The Mandarin".
Among other entertainments, they also had exotic dancers. The best known was Shirley Price, known as “The Duchess”, who arrived in Park City in the 1960s after leaving Hawaii and Las Vegas, and made the town her home and stage. She performed her illustrious act at the C’est Bon and the Ore Haus (which stood at 1410 Empire Avenue). She was so popular that famous actors, especially Chuck Connors from the TV series “The Rifleman”, and children’s book author Shel Silverstein, came to Park City just to see her dance.
Tiki Docks - Madeira Beach
Madeira Beach, Florida, United States (Closed)
Opened June 23rd, 2025.
This 298-seat indoor-outdoor restaurant and bar was operated by Tampa-based 23 Restaurant Services.
Previously home to the short-lived Don the Beachcomber (owned by the same mother company) which occupied this space for less than a year from February of 2024 to September of 2024 when Hurricane Helene hit and caused extensive damage.
It was then decided to re-envision this space as a Tiki Docks. Much of the build out and decor was still recognizable from the old Don's bar/restaurant, but with some fresh paint, freshening up, and repairs.
This location closed September 9, 2025, abruptly, and less than three months after its June 23 grand opening.
Tiki Docks Bar and Grill has three locations currently: Riverview, Port Orange, and St. Petersburg, FL.
Da Big Kahuna - Waikiki
Honolulu, Hawaii, United States (Closed)
Da Big Kahuna was open from @2006 - 2015.
Not to be confused with Big Kahuna's Pizza (since 1994 and still running).
Da Big Kahuna was known for its fish bowl cocktail and for its large handled Tiki Farm mug.
The owners decided to expand and opened two locations in Florida (Fort Lauderdale in 2010-2016 and Jacksonville in 2012-2014) but eventually all three businesses closed.
Then this Waikiki location was renamed as Lava Tube, and opened @2018 under new ownership with less emphasis on being a nightclub and with a revamped food menu.
Around May of 2025, the name changed to Tikis Meeting Spot, although the decor and drink menu appear to be the same, so it appears to be yet another light re-branding or ownership change but not a complete overhaul.
Lava Tube - Waikiki
Honolulu, Hawaii, United States (Closed)
This bar & restaurant used to be named Da Big Kahuna (@2006-2015) and had the same tikis out front as today and the same decor (both inside and out) but skewed a bit more to the dive bar and nightclub side.
Not to be confused with Big Kahuna's Pizza (since 1994 and still running).

Motel Bar
Wellington, New Zealand (Closed)
This bar was located in an upstairs location in a lane off Tory Street, a stone's throw from Courtenay Place, the centre for much of Wellington's nightlife. You had to buzz at the door to be let in, and the establishment famously refused entry to Liv Tyler during the filming of The Lord Of The Rings in the early 2000s. Apparently other hobbits from LOTR were allowed entry. Among its other celebrity clients was Adrien Brody, who hung out there during the filming of the remake of King Kong.
The bar opened in 1999, although it had a 1950s dive bar look until February 2014, when it reopened after receiving a tiki makeover. It had a maximum occupancy of 50 people, and had a main room where the bar was, a lounge (formerly the smoking room), and a smaller room at the far end of the bar.
After their tiki makeover, they served tropical cocktails in tiki mugs -- with the largest number of Tiki Farm Don Ho mugs probably seen in use at any location at any one time, used for their "Big Don's Sing Along" cocktail.
Despite its apparent popularity, the bar was closed December, 2017.
In its place, the following year, they decided to pendulum and create a bar that was the polar opposite of a dark tiki speakeasy -- Forrester's Lane.
The new place, Forrester's Lane, was then replaced by a second new concept, Lovebite, which was still light and airy, but pays homage to 80s nostalgia.
Te Fiti Tiki
Frankenmuth, Michigan, United States
Opened October 2nd, 2025.
This relatively small bar has an indoor dining area with bench and table seating framed by large shaded windows and tropical leaf wallpaper punctuated by a few carefully placed tiki masks.

Small curated menu of about a dozen cocktails and a backbar with a good representation of Planteray, Real McCoy, and other fine rums...and they also have zero proof mocktail options using Lyre’s Non-Alcoholic products.

Bali Hai - Euclid
Euclid, Ohio, United States (Closed)
