Opened in 2019 by Nando Córdova in San Isidro, Lima, Peru.

San Isidro, towards the west center, is one of 43 districts in Lima, Peru.

Nando is a renowned Peruvian bartender, educator and promoter involved in the beverage, education and entertainment industry for over 20 years, specializing in branding, rum and tropical cocktails. In 2016 he was recognized for his track record as “Best Rum Bartender” by the International Rum Conference in Madrid, considered one of the benchmarks for rum and Tiki cocktails in Latin America.

His passion for rum led him, since 2017, to organize and direct Kontiki Lima Tiki Fest, a festival that brings together bartenders from the region and influential characters dedicated to the education and promotion of Tiki culture, as well as the Lima Rum Festival, a space within KLTF that brings together industry experts and the best rum brands in the local market, in order to promote the consumption and value of sugar cane distillates.

Built in 1974 and last renovated in 2015, the InterContinental Tahiti Resort & Spa is set amid tropical gardens and bordering a lagoon. This upscale spa resort is 7 km from Bougainville Park and 8 km from Papeete Market. Polished rooms with balconies come with flat-screens, minifridges, and tea and coffeemakers. Suites add living rooms and terraces. Wi-Fi and room service are available, and kids age 15 and under stay free with an adult. In addition to a chic spa, amenities include 2 freshwater pools, 1 of which has a swim-up bar. Dining options include 2 posh restaurants, a lobby bar, the swim-up bar, and their Tiki Bar.

Tiki Bar is their main bar, located just next to Te Tiare restaurant. It is a popular rendezvous for hotel guests as well as local residents, and it hosts live entertainment from Wednesday to Saturday, creating a lively atmosphere.

*The Tiki Bar and the present-day InterContinental Tahiti Resort & Spa are not to be confused with the Tahara'a InterContinental Hotel which has been abandoned for many years and is much further from the airport.

There are 2 Tiki Docks locations -- this one in Riverview and another one in St. Petersburg, Florida. Both locations have indoor and outdoor waterfront dining.

The Riverview location is 15,000 square feet and has tiki murals on the exterior. The interior is a huge open space with blue painted support beams and blue floors, a large central bar with lots of televisions stacked upwards, and several Bosko carved masks behind the host area in front. The bathroom hall features a mural of an octopus that extends into both the men's and women's restrooms.

Open since April of 2023, Tiki Volcano is located in Northern Madrid.

The couple managing the bar, Miguel (Señor Castaway) and Julia Escobedo, are truly passionate about tiki history.

The bar's light fixtures were salvaged from the very first tiki bar in Madrid, opened in... 1961.

Miguel owned and operated two previous tiki bars in Madrid (The Kona Lei from 2013-2015 and the Tiki Chateau from 2016-2022).

Behind the counter stands a wall of rum and here the focus is on quality classic cocktails.

Many other Spanish tiki bars built during the 1960s and 70s may boast a more ornate tiki decor build-out but have lost their way when it comes to quality tiki cocktails in the Trader Vic and Don the Beachcomber tradition. Not Miguel. You can count on quality crafted drinks when you visit his establishment.

Tiki bar and restaurant near Slottsskogen, a large park in central Gothenburg. Kontiki opened in 2007 (it had existed in another location earlier, starting in 2004), and closed in November 2015.

The space was decorated mainly with bamboo, and lots of it. Several tables had different themes, including "The Diner," "The Beach," "Flamingo Hrnet" (Flamingo Corner in English), "Fjllstugan" (Winter Cabin in English) and "Japan Skrubben" (Japan Hut in English). There were loft spaces accessible by ladders, and an outdoor patio.

The food offerings were an unusual take on tropical flavors, including some tropical pizzas. Kontiki had both live and DJ music nights.

Bar and restaurant, with karaoke, opened and closed sometime around 2010.

Now appears to be a Mexican restaurant called "Amigos".

This short-lived restaurant, bar and dance club opened in summer 2004, and closed in spring 2005.

Barney West (1919-1981) was a tiki carver during the golden age of midcentury Polynesian Pop.

West, a native of Seattle, came to the Bay Area as a boy when his parents moved to Oakland. His father was chief engineer for the steam schooner Wapama which is now part of a San Francisco waterfront museum. During World War II, West joined the Merchant Marine and served as a steward on Liberty ships in the South Pacific. During his 15 years at sea, West became interested in the native art of Easter Island, Tahiti, Bora Bora, and Hawaii, an infatuation that later had a great influence on his art. West moved to an ark on Corte Madera creek shortly after the end of World War II. To set himself up in the woodcarving business, he drove spikes and laid heavy rails for a railroad crew. West’s first wood carving came from redwood pilings he floated to his home from San Pablo Bay. His first major customer was restaurateur Trader Vic Bergeron who purchased many pieces of West’s early art.

After establishing himself as a wood carver, West opened a studio in Sausalito ("Tiki Junction") on land lent to him by Zack’s by the Bay owner (Zack’s became Margaritaville, then Paradise Bay, now Salito’s Crab House), Sam Zakessian in 1963. The tiny studio soon became engulfed by tikis and other assorted tropical carvings and vegetation. West began his carving career with conventional carving tools but soon progressed to a chain saw. He shipped in mammoth redwood logs by rail and shipped his commissioned works on flatcars all over the country. West’s art can be found in London, Hawaii, and Cuba. West’s business thrived well in Sausalito and at one time he had five apprentices working with him.

Owner Kyle Boyd opened Tiki Maya Bar in early 2016, when he took over a floundering bar located on his property. The bar sat right over the water in the Caribbean Sea, with a thatched roof that was ready to get the complete tiki treatment. Boyd grew up in Dallas and had fond memories of his time spent at the Dallas Trader Vic's, and hoped to transform this Caribbean getaway into a Polynesian one.

However, for one reason or another, this never really came to fruition and by all accounts the bar closed some time after Summer 2018 -- with no recent reviews as of 2021 on TripAdvisor or Google Reviews or other review sites online. Its website was also taken down and its Facebook page abandoned.

The Tiki Maya House beach rental stands on shore nearby and its website is functioning and shows pictures of the bar also.

Perhaps the bar property is in transition and will re-open in some fashion soon...

This A-frame motel had a few changes in 2014 with new signage out front and the roof changed from blue to more of an orange (closer to its original color) by owner Tim Rice.

Rice said there was no intent to bring back the pool. Also, apparently, the rooms themselves were never Hawaiian themed, so beyond the structure itself, the sign, and the name, there is nothing more to see on the grounds -- no artwork or standing tikis.

This area has been somewhat depressed for several years, but has seen recent improvements.

It's not certain if there are more tiki upgrades in the Lodge's future, however. In May 2021 the signage was changed to a bland white and gray corporate logo with the only hint of tiki being the name...

This short-lived fast food restaurant opened in 1971, in Los Angeles, California, off Airdrome St. It was notable for its unique fiberglass leaf shingles.

The duo of owners behind the bar are also the owners of Saint Franks, located on Broad Street.

The bar does have a limited food menu and also features a private karaoke room.
