Don Payton worked during the 50s, 60s, and into the mid 70s under the Lokena Pottery Co. of Honolulu label and was best known for his tiny ceramic menehune figures, although he did a number of other ceramic artworks as well, including bowls, mugs, and ashtrays. Markings on vessels often include a unique swipe of glaze with "Lokena" incised to let the contrasting color show through.
