Ed Crissman was a prominent tiki carver and did quite a bit of work for Oceanic Arts in the 1960s. He carved 20 of the original (1964) tikis for the decor of the lavish Palm Springs Tropics hotel (now the Caliente Tropics). Crissman's work also graced various other resort spots in California including two other Tropics Hotels, at Pico Rivera and Modesto, built by the developers of the Palm Springs Tropics. Ed's creations prior to the 1964 build-out of the Palm Springs Tropics also included the Tahitian Tiki House posts for the Waikiki Biltmore Hotel in Hawaii.
