In 2012 David started to work at the LACMA Museum where he met an investor by the name of Cesil, an old Vietnam Vet. He loved David's art so much that he gave him his first grant in 2013. From there, David went into making mugs full time. He joined Echo Ceramics (Los Angeles's oldest ceramic studio) as a member and was able to learn new techniques that he applies to this day. He was selling mugs to his friends and patrons like Sven Kirsten, Adrian Eustaquio (PolyPop), and Scott Taylor (Tikipop) at Tiki Ti. 2013 was David's launch into the actual tiki scene. His first tiki event to vend and display art was at Tonga Hut, thanks to Eric October. He then went on to vend at the International Tiki Marketplace, thanks to Chris Garland. A couple weeks later he was at Don the Beachcomber for the Tiki Makekè, thanks to Samantha Couture. After that, he started to attend Tiki Oasis and other tiki events and to venture into other tiki bars outside of LA to sell and promote his creations.
