AbiNormal Tikis

a.k.a. Regina Hurley

Regina Hurley is a multi-media artist based in San Clemente, California. Her fine art expresses hope through a deep sensibility for the spiritual in everyday experience. Marks on a page, marks in clay, are footprints of a thought and a feeling - impulses that spring from a love of being alive. For Regina, the motivation to create art dwells deep within her spirit, with life experience as her inspiration. Regina's bronze sculpture, Looking for Treasures is in the permanent collection and on view at The Huntington Library in San Marino, CA.

Her most recent endeavors have been to create art for the tiki genre. Regina is attracted to the lighthearted escapism found in this art form. AbiNormal Tikis is her calling card. Why the name? When she decided to jump in to the marketplace of tiki, she wasnt sure where she would fit in but was sure it would be unique. And of course the humor of the movie Young Frankenstein had something to do with it as well.

Regina holds a MFA in sculpture and a BFA in drawing and painting from California State University Long Beach. Regina has over 25 years teaching experience in the area of painting drawing and sculpture at Saddleback College, Irvine Valley College, Concordia University, and Coastline Community College. She currently offers her vast knowledge to workshops and demonstrations.

Her art works can be seen at the Cottage Gallery 31701 Los Rios Street, San Juan Capistrano, CA 949-939-3478
