Vicious Virgin Bowl Arm Lowered
Trader Tom
This is one of the rarest bowls ever. My biggest find to date! The bowl is glazed in a satin pink but has a drip glaze over the edges of the rim that ranges from dark green to turquoise. One was sold by the Starlight Room to EdgeofTexas shortly before I found mine. There is also an arm-in-air version of this bowl on display at Oceanic Arts that has almost an identical glaze and was made by Beauce in Canada. Bob said it was probably inspired by Spurlin Ceramics, but that there were lots of people making similar bowls...unmarked. The arm-in-air version has somewhat sexier looking wahines and was used at the Leilani in Wisconsin (mentioned in Tiki Modern on page 112) and the Marie Antoinette Restaurant and Tahiti Bar in Quebec. I had two of these Hands Behind Back versions at one point and sold one.

Two Tribes Tiki Mug Yellow #96
Trader Tom
One side features the Tiki Moon Tiki and the other side features Tiki Beat. The "Tiki Moon" tiki pays tribute to Dean Moon of Mooneyes - A true innovator and legend in the So-Cal Hot Rod scene. The "Tiki Beat" tiki pays tribute to tiki carver and painter Marcus Thorn of Australia.
This mug was produced using a multi part slipcast mold and shows a high level of detail with cross hatched background and excellent definition on all sides of the mug. The USA mug is yellow. Catalogue serial number was MG985. There were only 25 available in the U.S. serial numbered 76-100 out of 100 total produced.
There is a green Japan Only version of this mug as well.

Trader Vic's Los Angeles Tiki Mug Brown
Trader Tom
This honey brown glazed mug has an ivory interior and was inspired by a traditional Hawaiian Ku Tiki. The bottom front rim reads "Trader Vic's" in raised relief letters and the bottom back rim reads "Los Angeles, CA" in an incised script lettering. "Tiki Farm, 2008" is stamped on the bottom. The mug was designed by Marcus Pizzuti at Tiki Farm. There were 1,000 made in this color. Holden speculates that the next run of this mug will probably be done with a green exterior glaze.
