Tonga Tabu Mug from Kalua Room

aka Tonga Princess Mug from Kalua Room in 2 collections

The Kalua Room was located in the Hotel Windsor in downtown Seattle and operated from the mid 50s. This mug depicts a heavily adorned female figure from the chest up, wearing an elaborate headdress and breastplate. Back has primitive figure with sunburst above its head. The mug is glazed beige with brown flecks over a white base. Similar to artist rendering in vintage drink menu. Used to serve the "Tonga Tabu" cocktail, described as : "Light rums with lemon, oranges, limes, liqueurs and flavorings. A tropical thrill that connoisseurs rave about".
