I am a California native that caught the Tiki Bug somewhere early this century…
It started showing up in my thoughts and dreams, slowly, like a mysterious fog that creeps into the harbor under a full moon…
I suppose it was a nostalgia and longing for simpler times but also a deep appreciation for the art and atmosphere the originals had conjured out of nothing but their imaginations…
Tiki is, in my opinion, state of the art, unadulterated and delicious escapism!
Then there were the Drinks, the mugs, the books and the shirts (I admittedly have a serious problem with shirts) and the list goes on…
So far, I can’t seem to shake this tropical tiki mindset and to this day I haven’t been able to convince myself of any sane reason why I should.
At this point in my life, I have come to terms with the fact that I have become tikified.
So what to do now?
Embrace it, enable it, enjoy it and blissfully let it take me wherever it may…
