Released by Lyman in March 1961 as "Percussion Spectacular!", the album was retitled "Yellow Bird" later that summer to capitalize on the success of the single of the same name.
Trivia: Yellow Bird was originally released as "Choucoune", a 19th-century Haitian song by Michel Mauléart Monton. Although it was covered in 1957 in the Calypso style by the Norman Luboff Choir, Arthur Lyman made the song a big with in his 1961 release. Since then, Yellow Bird has been covered by a bajillion other musicians.
