This bust of a serene wahini looking over her shoulder is made of resin mixed with monkeypod wood, giving it a slightly pebbled surface. White paint has been brushed across the hair strands to add detail and interest.
Schirman was an active sculptor from the late 50's through the 70's. As with HIP and Coco Joe's, Schirman often mixed natural local materials with resin to produce his pieces.
