These simple carved hardwood idols have an overall cylindrical/peg like form with a blunt dome top and a flat bottom allowing the statuette to "stand".
While they are typically "full bodied" and feature various generic snarling tiki faces. The back sides of these pieces are often plain or may bear place names such as "Tonga". They are still produced for the tourist trade from various makers and are usually unmarked. Sizes can range from a few inches to over 24" tall. Modern versions are typically not valuable or expensive.
