This small (3.75" Wide x 1.5" Tall x 2.75" Deep) wooden box features a Maori face with shell eyes. Each side also has a decorative relief, and the bottom is stamped "Carved In Rotorua New Zealand".
More elaborately carved versions of these (with the same overall design) can be found, often with an artist/maker sticker inside.
