Designed 1949 by Harry Hargreaves for Crown Lynn Potteries New Zealand's Wharetana souvenir range, and produced in the early 1950s thus a very early tiki mug. Known as "Ruru and Weku". Three colourways found so far, allover brown, allover green, and brown OS green IS. 4 1/4 inches high, 4 inches OD. Wharetana ware is very sought-after and some pieces sell for thousands of dollars.

Ruru & Weku Mug

aka 1029 Ruru and Weku Drinking Mug in 1 collection

This is a handled mug with a Maori styled Tiki face on either side. Designed in 1949 by Harry Hargreaves for Crown Lynn's New Zealand Wharetana souvenir range, and produced in the early 1950s. There were at least three color ways of this design: (all brown, all green, and brown exterior with a green interior glaze).
