The Toucanator - First Edition - by Tim Wollweber - for Tiki Farm

A black bodied toucan with red headcrest, green beak, and yellow claws. He also has white cowrie shell eyes and a strand of cowrie shells on his head.

    From Tiki Farm:

"Designed to be a sidekick to our Peg Leg Party Parrot, 'The Toucanator' is right on point. Artist Tim Wollweber gave him tattoo markings on his beak, partially recognizable as Papua New Guinea tattoos & pictographs that represent birds & feathers & wind, just to get some real world reference onto this mug. The headdress of 'The Toucanator' is reminiscent of a high chief. Colorized in an island-style scheme, the red, green and yellow give this bird the pop of color this dark creature needed to mingle at 'The Party'.

    Artist: Tim Wollweber

Original release year: 2022 Capacity: 14 oz. Material: Ceramic stoneware Height: 8 3/8 inches "

This mug made its debut at Tiki Oasis 2022. Later sold by Tiki Farm online as well.

Journey to Hawaii - Second Edition - Jungle Relic Green - by Jeff Granito

    From TikiLand Trading:

"For those who recognize it, this mug was very clearly inspired by a coveted piece of Tiki ephemera. The foam tiki statue that this mug’s Ku was modeled after is none other than from one of the most iconic, memorable, and influential travel marketing and advertising campaigns by United Airlines promoting air travel to Hawaii.

With a passion for Hawaii, Tiki, and all things at the intersect of art in popular culture and advertising, Lost Tiki envisioned and designed this mug with the help of friends Jeff Granito and Tom “THOR” Thordarson. Jeff and THOR each contributed depictions on the mug that represent some of the experiences and history that one encounters when visiting Hawaii. THOR masterfully brought these concepts together, and to life, in the sculpt.

Lost Tiki’s inspiration for each of the mugs created for TikiLand Mug Society is to tell part of his, and many other’s, story and journey of 'falling down the Tiki rabbit hole'. This is the 2nd mug in the ongoing TikiLand Mug Society series."

This second edition is glazed in a "Jungle Relic Green". It was preceded by a first edition in brown that was exclusive to TikiLand Mug Society members. There is also a third edition in "Lava Orange".

Blue Lady - Full Color Editon - by Eekum Bookum - for The Reef #113

The Blue Lady is based on a 1950 painting by Vladimir Tretchikoff. It became one of the world's most popular paintings when made into a print in the 1960s and 1970s. The painting was of an unknown Chinese girl and was best known for the unusual skin tone used for her face (a blue-green color). Recently, the model for Tretchikoff's painting was found to be a then 17-year-old Monika Sing-Lee (now Monika Pon), who was then a single girl working in her uncle's laundry in Cape Town.

This mug was released for Modernism Week 2022, in Palm Springs, at The Reef. Later that day, sold through the Eekum Bookum website.

Hina Keahi - Dualtone Blue - by Tim Wollweber

This mug is shaped like Hina Keahi, one of the two legendary Ghost Sisters of Hawaii -- a kneeling wahine playing ukulele and wearing a flower lei and circlet of flowers in her hair. This version in dual tone blue is matched with a dual tone blue version of Hina Kulu'ua and both can be used as mugs or filled with sand to use as bookends since they were purposefully made with a flat edge on the reverse.

Also produced in a traditional gloss brown.

Tiki Farm relates this legend of The Ghost Sisters of Hilo Hills:

"According to Hawaiian mythology, Hina is the goddess of the moon and the mother of Maui. She had two daughters, Hina Keahi, the mistress of fire and Hina Kuluʻua, the mistress of rain. It is said that Hina gifted her daughters with two mountains, Halai for Hina Keahi and Puʻuhonu for Hina Kuluʻua.

The people of Hina Keahi’s mountain always had plentiful amounts of food with them, but one month their crops started shriveling up and the people began to starve. Hina Keahi knew she had to do something to help her people, so she ordered for an underground imu to be made. She told her people to gather firewood and the people of the village decided that they needed to put someone in the imu to be sacrificed.

Hina Keahi told her people to bury her in the imu, reassuring them that she would not get hurt because she was the fire goddess. She told her people to wait three days. During those three days, Hina Keahi traveled from the ground towards the sea – she came up to the surface where Hilo Boarding School stands today and she marked her spot with a freshwater spring.

On the third day, Hina Keahi returned to the village as a woman who the villagers did not recognize. All the villagers were in awe of how much she resembled Hina Keahi, but they knew it was not her because she was in the imu. The woman told the villagers to uncover the imu and they found enough cooked food to supply them until the rainy season returned. To this day, the villagers believe that Hina Keahi sought out help from her beloved sister Hina Kuluʻua to help her feed her people."

Daikoku Mug - Green - by Tiki Farm - for Pyrat Rum

Daikoku is one of the Seven Lucky Gods and his images are found in temples across Tibet and China. He is a household deity in Japan and often considered a god of wealth or kitchen god. This mug shows him carrying his magic mallet. This mallet of plenty can miraculously produce anything desired when struck. Some Japanese say that coins fall out when he shakes his mallet.

Daikoku is an interesting choice for this Pyrat Rums mug since their normal mascot is Hotei but they are similar characters with portly physiques and magic items that dispense treasure.

Hotei is the figure on the medallion on every bottle of Pyrat rum. The roots of rum trace back to early Asia, where scholars agree the first distillation of sugarcane juice was produced. And so, the history of rum is very much the history of sugar in Asia and Hotei honors Asia’s preeminent and important role in the origin of this popular spirit.

The Hotei monk is the patron saint and Zen protector of fortunetellers and bartenders. This socially enlightened mystic, often considered the god of contentment and happiness, is always depicted with a cheerful smile, a bald head, and a portly belly. Ancient scrolls tell of Hotei’s fondness for libations and he is commonly seen carrying a large cloth sack that never empties, from which he gregariously dispenses food and drink and other treasures.
