Shrimp Boat by Red Wing

in 2 collections

Aloa-Chef's supply company out of Eau Claire, Wisconsin commissioned Red Wing Pottery in the 1950's to make these. Shrimp cocktail was the hot thing in the 50s and 60s. Aloa was administratively dissolved on 5/17/61 in Eau Claire, but shrimp boats made prior to this will be marked "Aloa Corp." on the bottom. Shrimp boats continued to be produced in the 60s by Red Wing for restaurants far and wide--but these will either say "Red Wing" or have no markings on the bottom at all. The shrimp boats measure 6 3/4" long by 3" wide and 1/5" deep. They have a compartment for your shrimp and for your cocktail or tartar sauce. Red Wing also made a similar piece marked "Butter Boat" (but with no compartments).
