Tiki Mug Design

Koruru

in 31 collections

A dark greenish Maori styled Tiki head mug with real Paua shell eyes. Koruru is based on a traditional mask on the gable of a typical Maori meeting house. As that, it is the head of the body of the house, with the gable beams being the outstretched arms, welcoming the visitor. This mug is also an homage to Rauru, the grandiose Maori meeting house erected in the ethnographic museum of the designer's, Sven Kirsten’s, home town of Hamburg, Germany. This mug is part of the "Sven Kirsten Kollection". Sven Kirsten is a renowned urban archaeologist and author.
