These wooden bookends feature a Maori "Hei Tiki" head with a typical extended tongue and paua eyes on the front side. The otherwise unornamented backs showcase layered native New Zealand woods, and the label on the bottom of one bookend describes each of the 13 woods used. These were most likely produced in the 60's, by Sovereign Woodworkers Ltd. in New Zealand.
