Order of the Golden Fez Seer of Untruth Mug - First Edition - by Ken Holewczynski - for House of Tabu a.k.a. House of Tabu Monolith Mug

    From House of Tabu:

"As our Order’s chief archeologists continue their efforts to seek the history and mementos of our beloved society, they have recently announced a new and exciting find!

While the artifact found is in a primitive state, it nonetheless represents an important discovery. This new item adds to the mystique of the Order while posing new questions and eventually many a long night of research and libations. This monolith is emblazoned with the initials of our great Order on one side and the All-Seeing Eye on the opposite side. The Eye is supported by a sacred scarab and is embedded in the sands of time.

Our archeologists at this time can only surmise that this new discovery is the Seer of Untruth Monolith, hereunto unforeseen! This sacred vessel was issued to our fine Brethren who, of impeccable foresight and intellect, could spot shit from shinola in a heartbeat. Along with the chalice itself, those of this power of observation, were also awarded a special enameled pin, to announce to one and all that you will not be able to pull the proverbial wool over their eyes.

Also included is an all new Order of the Golden Fez membership certificate and card.

As we work feverishly in our Archeology department, we will endeavor to restore this artifact post haste, so that you, our trusted friends and confidantes, may too add this to your collection of the Order’s most coveted treasures.

Our mugs are handmade right here at the House of Tabu and we’re proud to produce them here in the USA."

Blue Lady - Monochromatic Edition - by Eekum Bookum - for The Reef

The Blue Lady is based on a 1950 painting by Vladimir Tretchikoff. It became one of the world's most popular paintings when made into a print in the 1960s and 1970s. The painting was of an unknown Chinese girl and was best known for the unusual skin tone used for her face (a blue-green color). Recently, the model for Tretchikoff's painting was found to be a then 17-year-old Monika Sing-Lee (now Monika Pon), who was then a single girl working in her uncle's laundry in Cape Town.

The first 10 of this monochromatic edition were released in Palm Springs, at The Reef. Later, they were sold through the Eekum Bookum website at a slightly higher mark-up.

Note: there was also a full-color edition that preceded this one.

Dorothy - by Pete Klockau and One Hundred 80 Degrees - for the Black Lagoon Room and At Random

    From The Black Lagoon Room:

"Well known across the Midwest for their absolutely delicious ice cream drinks (that cocktail genre being a certified Wisconsin staple) At Random is a local must-visit rite of passage, and a gateway to a different time. Rat Pack on the stereo, a hand-crafted cocktail confection in front of you shared with the one you love, sunken into the rich, cozy avocado green Naugahyde booths and with just the perfect dim, romantic amber lighting, a visit to At Random is an experience unlike any other.

The centerpiece of the lounge area in the bar is 'Dorothy,' an interesting local artifact in and of herself. When we were asked to design the bar's VERY FIRST sculpted mug, we could think of no better subject than this iconic statue. The mug depicts Dorothy against a natural rock wall with exotic tropical plants around the base. The reverse features the bar's logo, location, and established date."

Tiki Oasis 2021 Riki Tiki Mug - First Edition - by Eekum Bookum a.k.a. Tiki Oasis 21 Riki Tiki Mug - by Eekum Bookum

This year's mug for Tiki Oasis is shaped like a tiki head with a lidded hat and flame on top.

This event marks the first year that Tiki Oasis was held at the Town and Country Resort. The mug is modeled after their one and only vintage tiki on the premises -- a William Westenhaver Witco Mainlander carving named “Riki Tiki” that was placed atop their pavillion.

On special occasions, Tiki torch flames or fireworks would be set off from his head. Riki caught fire a couple of times even though he was protected from the flames via a sheetmetal dulì (Chinese farmer’s hat).

San Diego Fire Department officials soon put a stop to that, and Riki Tiki was relocated to good ol’ terra firma. The pavilion and Riki Tiki have survived under various names to this day.

The mug was issued only on premises with the Deluxe Evening Resort Pass ($420) and the mug was billed as a $150 value.
