Confucianism is characterized by its humanistic philosophy that human beings are teachable, improvable, and perfectible through personal and communal endeavor especially self-cultivation and self-creation. In pop culture, Confucius is often cited through aphorisms that may or not be genuinely attributable to his teachings.
