First sighted in Thailand in 2008,now in 2010 I have finally caught a "Modern Bug Eyed Moai/Buddha".
The unmistakable line of the bug eye moai have been soften into this serene Buddha face with earings.

This Buddha mug is inspired by a vintage Otagiri mug, the Bug-Eyed Moai. The mug is of a Buddha head, more narrow at the top, and having distinctive large, rounded eyeballs. The glaze on this mug is blue, while the vintage bug-eyed moai version is two-toned brown, with beige overlaid with a darker streaky brown with a white interior and concave base. Produced in Thailand.
