Surfah Native ceramic sculpture - refer to Tiki Modern page 28. This object is shown in two separate images, one credited to Marc Bellaire the other is the cover of Popular Ceramics October 1956 issue (also pictured is a Wahine and a smaller Keiki version) First one produced. A BIG Mahalo to Gecko for this piece, a great addition to my collection.

Surfah Native Ceramic Sculpture

aka Surfah Native Statue, Marc Bellaire Style Native Statue in 1 collection

A stylized figure of a man wearing a simple tapa patterned wrap around his waist. This sculpture is based on the 1956 original made by Marc Bellaire (protege and partner of Sascha Brastoff). Bellaire did a series of similar figures (kane/man, wahine/woman, keiki/boy). Originals can be seen pictured in Sven Kirsten's Tiki Modern, page 28.
