This object is shown in two separate images, one credited to Marc Bellaire the other is the cover of Popular Ceramics October 1956 issue (also pictured is a Wahine and a smaller Keiki version) First one produced. A BIG Mahalo to Gecko for this piece, a great addition to my collection.

aka Surfah Native Statue, Marc Bellaire Style Native Statue in 1 collection

A stylized figure of a man wearing a simple tapa patterned wrap around his waist. This sculpture is based on the 1956 original made by Marc Bellaire (protege and partner of Sascha Brastoff). Bellaire did a series of similar figures (kane/man, wahine/woman, keiki/boy). Originals can be seen pictured in Sven Kirsten's Tiki Modern, page 28.
