Adventurer - by Bosko - for False Idol - Artist Proof
aka Adventurer - by Bosko - for False Idol - AP in 1 collection
The Adventurer is a prototype mug that was made several years ago for False Idol. It was made in the wrong size, so it was shelved.
Bosko recently used the original molds and made a small limited edition of 23 Adventurer mugs. Bosko originally wanted to make the mug in yellow and made an artist proof in yellow. He changed his mind and made the final mugs in orange.
The mug is based on a piece of art that Bosko carved for False Idol and features the name, False Idol, on the lower back of the mug.
The mug stands 7 inches high and holds about 10 ounces. Like most Bosko mugs, this mug was handmade in Bosko’s Southern California studio.
R-76 Lookalike Mug - Unmarked
in 2 collections
Brown glaze and typical tiki shape, although this tiki appears to be a female form, with breasts, and a full belly with belly button. It resembles the Orchids of Hawaii R-76 mug, but is completely unmarked.
Trader Pang's Handled Skull Mug - Brown
in 0 collections
Although there was a Trader Pang's Restaurant in Chico, California during the 70s, the line of mugs marked "Trader Pang's" is thought to be the name for the overseas import mugs sold through Hilo Hattie stores circa 2002. There appears to be no connection to the Trader Pang's restaurant.
This mug appears to have the rounded features of the earlier produced Otagiri skull mugs. It is marked "Trader Pang's" in black letters on a small white rectangle on reverse.

The Lucky Tiki Mascot Mug - First Edition - Brown & Red - by Kevin Kidney
in 7 collections
This is a coconut sized mug modeled after the round head of the Lucky Tiki's mascot tiki. It was designed by Kevin Kidney some 20 years ago before production and was put on hold until the re-opening of the bar in West Hollywood. The tiki has a somewhat Marquesan look, round sleepy eyes, and large nostrils. This first edition is glazed in matte brown with a gloss red interior.
These were mostly sold through a release party on premises but there were some leftover mugs put up for sale on the 1933 Group's website storefront.
Frank the Tank Tiki Libations Mug - Dark Matte - by Texas Mud Monger
in 0 collections
Frankenstein imagery with steampunk embellishment. Unknown limited edition handmade by Texas based small batch artisan Texas Mud Monger (Etsy). Another full color gloss edition also exists.
From Texas Mud Monger:
"Ever wished your drinkware had… more character?
Brought to life in a lab (probably under questionable conditions), this Frankenstein Tiki Mug is the perfect companion for your most daring cocktails. With a brooding gaze, a toothy smirk, and bolts that scream 'lightning optional,' it’s equal parts spooky and stylish. Handcrafted in high-fired ceramic, this mug will keep your drinks chillingly cold (or hauntingly warm).
Why settle for ordinary when you can sip from a masterpiece of mad science?
Each of my 10-ounce mugs are created using the best porcelain and food-safe ceramic glazes available. The exterior of the cup is hand painted with multiple underglaze colors and finished with a non-slip matte glaze. The interiors are white gloss for ease of cleaning."
Plumeria Punch Bowl - 2nd Edition - by Tiki Diablo
in 1 collection
The Plumeria Punch Bowl made by Tiki Diablo, aka Danny Gallardo, was made in his Southern California studio.
It is based on the plant hangers on the ceiling of the Enchanted Tiki Room. They, in turn, have a very Papua New Guinea styled influence and are shaped like canoes with crocodile head prows.
This is a hand-made, hand-painted punch bowl measuring 12” wide, 4.5” deep and 5.5” tall. Each bowl of this limited 250 edition was individually painted and no two look alike.
While there were coloring variations shipped in both editions, the second edition differs primarily in the color-way of the central flower. The first edition features a red/orange flower and the second a yellow/orange flower.
