Tiki Mugs
The Lost Lei Skull Wall - Purple
in 0 collections
Issued in a light blue or a purple glaze. Marked "The Lost Lei Austin" with their logo surrounded by palm fronds on the reverse. Sides are decorated in bamboo.
This mug design is an unauthorized use of the original design created by Darick Maasen in 2016 for Three Dots and a Dash in Chicago, IL. The original was made to resemble the entrance to the Chicago bar, whose wall of skulls is illuminated in blue light as you walk down the stairs. The original also has their logo and marking on the reverse, but it too is covered in bamboo like the sides (not in palm fronds).
Due to overwhelming criticism at the blatant unauthorized use of design work from Three Dots and a Dash, The Lost Lei pulled these mugs from shelves and discontinued their use at the bar. They were not destroyed, however, and continue to be sold on the secondary market through eBay and other venues.
The Lost Lei Sea Urchin - Yellow
in 0 collections
Issued in either a pink, blue, or a yellow glaze. Marked "The Lost Lei Austin" with their logo. This is a mug shaped like a sea urchin.
This mug design is an unauthorized use of the original design by Shelby Allison (wife of owner Paul McGee) and Holden Westland of Tiki Farm which was produced in 2013 for Three Dots and a Dash in Chicago, IL.

Tops Off Head Vase - Dusty Rose Edition - by Campout Magazine
in 0 collections
From Campout Magazine:
"Campers, say hello to the third addition in our vintage inspired ceramic line, the cousin of our original Tops Off head-vase... introducing the new Tiki inspired 'Tops Off Tiki' head-vase!
We redesigned our original 'Tops Off' head-vase to create a slightly more vintage tiki inspired head-vase with this gal. Softer overall, no makeup and new tiki vintage inspired colors in serene sea-foam and dusty rose! She can hold your favorite plant, makeup brushes, pens, pencils, unmentionable nightstand goodies, whatever you want! They measure about 6 inches wide frontside, 5 3/4 inches wide front to back, and 6 inches tall. Vase opening is 2 1/2 inches wide and 4 inches long.
There are very limited quantities, like limited Campers. And because we did two colors, it made each run smaller so in the tiki/ceramics world it pushes these ladies into collector territory because of the limited amounts available. Each one is hand designed also so slight variations in paint will occur."

Unauthorized The Lucky Tiki Mug - Green Wipe Finish - for The Lost Lei
in 0 collections
This is an unauthorized version of Crazy Al's The Lucky Tiki. It is shorter and somewhat distorted from the original.
The Lucky Tiki was designed by Crazy Al Evans in 2007 and was based on one of his original carvings. The tiki is holding a stack of four skulls and has a pineapple on his forehead and a horseshoe on his chin. His eyes are squinted shut and his mouth is open exposing his teeth and tongue.
Notable in this knockoff is the lack of any maker markings, and much lower detail around the mouth and on the stack of skulls than Al's original.
This version is marked for The Lost Lei in Austin on the lower front and is glazed in a green wipe finish.
The Lost Lei produced many mugs soon after opening that used unauthorized designs from Tiki Farm and Lost Lake in Chicago. After controversy boiled over, they decided to pull these from shelves and quit using them at their bar, but they have sold continuously on the secondary market nonetheless, through eBay and other channels.
Atuona - by Woody Miller
in 1 collection
From Woody Miller:
"This mug is inspired by the tikis one encounters all around the town of Atuona, on the island of Hiva Oa in the Marquesas. Atuona is seen as the living heart of the Marquesan culture, preserving their cultural heritage through traditional wood carving, songs, dancing, engraving, musical instrument making, and tapa creation… all artistic expressions that are cultivated and nurtured there. The town of Atuona - and the whole island of Hiva Oa - has tikis everywhere. Every signpost, bus stop, storefront, government building, or roadside fruit stand is embellished with intricately carved tikis. It is truly inspiring to see this tradition so infused into the daily life of the locals.
Each Atuona is uniquely glazed.
Materials: Lead-free white stoneware ceramic & food safe glaze
Capacity: 16oz
Size: 7.25 inches tall x 3 inches wide"
Flipper Sipper - by THOR & TikiLand Trading Company
aka Banana Dolphin - by THOR & TikiLand Trading Company in 0 collections
From TikiLand Trading Company:
"Tiki cocktails are known for their elaborate and often over the top garnishes, but none is more iconic than the Banana Dolphin. This kitschy garnish features half of a banana cut to resemble a dolphin, with fins, and cloves for eyes. The stem of the banana is cut to resemble a mouth, that is fit with a maraschino cherry. This tiki mug pays homage to the playful side of tiki.
This ceramic tiki mug is about 6.75 inches tall, and holds about 16 oz!"
Designed by TikiLand Trading Company and Sculpted by THOR.
Sponge Bob Tiki Mug - by Kalohi Ceramics
in 2 collections
This is a mash-up of the Classic Tiki Bob and an undersea sponge. There is also the reference to the cartoon character, Sponge Bob Squarepants, but these sponges come in all colors and do not wear the signature Sponge Bob pants, shirt, and tie. This version, aside from the Tiki Bob face, is more on the realism side and was created in a variety of colors, including yellow, but many others as well.
From Kalohi Ceramics:
"This rare Tiki Bob can only be found in Kaneohe Bay. Freshly harvested with a few barnacles on its base.
Each mug will be unique. All Sponge holes and barnacles are made by hand.
Sponge Bob can easily hold 16oz of your favorite drink not including ice.
