Kon Tiki Rock Mug - Tan - by Barconic
aka Unauthorized Tiki Pop Fever I Mug in 2 collections
This is a mug shaped like a Marquesan head with wide nostrils and a large closed grin baring rows of square teeth that wrap around to the sides. Top rim has a traditional v-shaped pattern. The original design of this mug was both designed and manufactured by Bai Tiki for the first ever Tiki Pop Fever event (June 26-28, 2015 at Kon Tiki Village in San Tropez, France). This version is unauthorized and the marking has been changed with script at the front bottom reading "KON TIKI" and on the back reading "KON TIKI BE HAPPY".
It is NOT, as attested on the Barconic website, modeled after anything having to do with Thor Heyerdahl's Kon Tiki Expedition. The tiki face on the sail of the Kon Tiki expedition raft (technically the Peruvian god, Viracocha) looked totally different.
As a wholesaler, BarConic buys inventory for low prices from overseas where the copyright laws are not enforced. This mug is one of several designs BarConic has distributed and which do not reimburse the original artists and manufacturer.
