The characters we meet in the story see Cthulhu either in dreams or in artwork. The narrator of the story says that a statue of Cthulhu resembled, in part, an octopus, a dragon and a human-like or anthropomorphic creature. This tankard shows an octopus head on the front with dragon/bat wings stretching out overhead. Made of stoneware. This tankard was produced in four different series of glaze combinations (gray/blue/purple/brown), ten in each series, for a total of 40 produced, not including artist proofs.
