VanTiki's Description: "This curious cocktail container is modeled after the most unique of all the pounders of Polynesia: the ring pounder, or pohaku puka ku’i poi, found only on the island of Kauai. This traditional tool is used to mash taro root into poi - and its puka (Hawaiian for hole) allows two hands to easily lift the stone implement. Scaled to match the stone artifacts in the Bishop Museum collection. Unlike the standard edition - this tiki mug has been meticulously hand-detailed after casting. Note the cracks and the crisp face carvings. Do not be dazzled by the genuine paua shell inlay in the eyes! Each of the 5 Chieftain's Mugs is entirely unique. Natural paua shell eyes have been inlaid with high strength jeweler's epoxy - hand wash only!"

In 1947, a journey across the great Pacific Ocean from South America to the Polynesian islands took place on a rustic, hand crafted, raft led by Norwegian explorer, Thor Heyerdahl. With a raft named after the Inca god "Viracocha", the brave crew set out for an adventure of a lifetime! Heyerdahl believed that people from South America could have, by sail, reached Polynesia during pre-Colombian times. His aim in launching the "Kon-Tiki" expedition was meant to prove that. This mug version is sculpted by a different "THOR" you all may know (Tom Thordarson). Inspired by the real thing, down to flying fish and playful dolphins frolicking in the waves, this mug holds a generous 22 ounces of your favorite beverage. It stands a proud 10" from base of wave to the top of her mast, and is 6 1/2" in length, and 4 1/2" wide. Sails are water moisture resistant and rigging lines are water resistant, and wax coated. Ceramic glazing is hand applied by Tom and his family, at the THOR ceramics studio.

Created by David Outline of Outl1n3 Island. Several mugs were custom made and embellished with jewelry before the first edition which began with 5 mugs (of an unspecified run). The mug is bone colored with a black wash.

A standing tiki mug with round concentric eyes, a diamond patterned headdress, and glazed in a light blue/green glaze. He is a part of a set with his brother, Komani, who is glazed in a darker blue, has bisected pupils, and a wavy rounded pattern on headdress. This version of Koka with heat decal on back was sold, starting in 2019, at The Bamboo Club, Long Beach, California along with a decaled version of his brother mug Komani. Koka is light blue and green with “The Bamboo Club Long Beach, CA” On the back of his head.

The El Heroe Mugullado variant features a Dual Tone Blue and Tan glaze!" This design was later released in other glaze colors, including blue, green, teal, iron oxide dark brown, and this brown glaze (which they describe as blue and tan but reads more light brown).
