This coconut shaped brown mug is covered in Hawaiian petroglyph figures and says "Short Snorter" on the front and "SSS Popo's Honolulu" on the bottom. Popo's was a coffee shop at the Nimitz Plaza near the Honolulu International Airport, probably adjacent to the Popo's Mexican Restaurant that was nearby and also owned by the Spencecliff Corporation. The Spencecliff group also owned the Tahitian Lanai and the Lahaina Broiler and Prince Kuhio's. Popo's Coffee Shop also had a "Short Snorter Bar" inside. Originally a "Short Snorter" was a memento from World War II or earlier among flight crews where they would all sign a banknote with each others signatures and carry it around as a good luck charm. A "snort" is also slang for a mixed drink or shot. So a "short snorter" in this case was looked at as a small but stiff drink to have before taking a flight -- very appropriate for an airport coffee shop. Sunset Shore Studio pieces are rare and Adele Davis later sold her business which later went by Polynesian Pottery and Daga.

A severed head mug sold exclusively through Rory Snyder of The Reef tiki bar in Palm Springs, California. The head wears a pith helmet decorated with a small tiki on front. The mug is made to look like Rory Snyder, owner of The Reef, who is also good friends with John Mulder of Eekum Bookum. The first 100 mugs of the open edition with yellow helmet was released on October 1, 2020 and immediately sold out. A delicious libation was created for this mug by The Reef’s Cameron Robbins, called “Wildsville’s Wrong Turn”. This particular mug is a test glaze, and as such is unique in color and detail. Multiple test glaze versions were sold on eBay through Rory Snyder.

This is a blue/green-glazed tiki mug shaped like the bust (mid waist up) of a devilish horned tiki, dressed in a suave suit, with Maori Moko face tattoos, holding a martini in his hands. Jason & Staci Smith worked with Doug Horne to bring their concept to life. John Mulder sculpted and manufactured the finished mug. The Den of Sin is the home bar of Jason & Staci and since they live in Las Vegas, the back of the mug features the vintage skyline of The Strip. The first edition in matte red with black wash was followed by this "Beachcomber Glaze" second edition in a blue/green and a more glossy candy apple red third edition.

This mug looks like a cross between a monkey and the Goof on the Roof at the Bali Hai on Shelter Island. He has the Goof hat, the red eye, and sharp pointed teeth!
