This is a mug shaped like a lion-dog or Japanese Komainu. There is both a green and a red detailed version. These lion-dogs are often seen in pairs as statues either guarding the entrance or the inner shrine of many Japanese Shinto shrines or kept inside the inner shrine itself, where they are not visible to the public. They can sometimes be found at Buddhist temples, nobility residences or even private homes. The Komainu is also one of the pieces of a shōgi (Japanese chess) board.

Tommy Bahama has produced a highly detailed series of wahine mugs, one each year from 2002 to 2007. In 2006, they decided to make a lamp version of the first Tommy Bahama mug that came out in 2002, "Kimono Lady". Like the original mug, this lamp has an off-white background, and the wahine is dressed in a pink dress with white flowers. The ceramic part of the lamp is about twice the size of the mug, and with its fiber shade stands 16 inches tall.
