The Happy Cannibal is inspired by a Jack London 1912 collection of short stories, "A Son of the Sun" and represents a whimsical take on Mr. London's cannibals featured in his book.

This is a mug shaped like a man with large earrings & holding a bird. This design is taken from Solomon Islands canoe prows. These prows were connected just above the water line and represented the protector spirit of the canoe. It is glazed in stone gray.
