Tonga Hut Mug Beige By Munktiki Imports

This mug was sculpted by Kirby and manufactured by Munktiki Imports. The original Big Mo is the Moai carving just within the front door of the Tonga Hut. The mug is a faithful replica. The back of the mug reads "Tonga Hut" in vertical letters and gives the opening date of the bar, "1958." This beige version and a blue wipe version were both manufactured by Munktiki Imports in 2018, marking a shift in manufacturing from the earlier versions by Taboo Island, and released during Tonga Hut's 60th Anniversary.

This tiki mug is multicolored with brown at bottom and fading toward a darker green at top. It features a tiki with a pointed head. This is a classic design. The original Island Chief mug was made by Stella Bodey and Spurlin Ceramics in the early 1960s and used at the Islander in Los Angeles where it was used to serve the Husband Killer cocktail.

This is a modernist/expressionist interpretation of the classic Paul Marshall Products Peanut Mug. One eye is larger than the other and a slight bend on the mug gives the illusion of movement. The first glaze edition of the design has a red glaze that has been wiped off the top areas of bisque but left inside all of the crevices and recesses to make the sculpt really "pop". The second edition in purple uses the same wiped glaze finish. This version is an Artist Proof, and, as such, is unique in color and detail.

This silvertone mug is inspired by Papua New Guinea Yipwon spirit figures. The Yipwon is an abstract representation of the human figure that is made by the Yimam cultures of Papua New Guinea. The figure consists of several parts with the form of a bird. This mug features a tucked-in and modified, low-hanging "pompadour" inspired direction. The next part is a human male face, a long narrow nose, and a mouth puckered as if whistling. A protruding ridge runs from the top of the head and continues down to the chin, apparently indicating a beard. Oral stories from the Yimam culture state that this figure represents the hunting spirit in human form.

This is a mash-up between the classic Tiki Bob mug and a rum barrel. The mug is numbered and hand-signed, and includes an enamel pin, a sticker, a BigToe swizzle stick, and a menu card of the cocktail specially designed for this mug by Voodoo Jorge of Frankie's Tiki Oasis (West Los Angeles). The cocktail won the award for best cocktail at Tiki Oasis 2018.

This is a coconut-shaped mug marked for Shore Leave restaurant in Boston, MA. It has the restaurant name in a circular "cutout" on the front and is decorated on the back with pink flowers and a green palm, from the restaurant logo. Overall the mug is brown and has a natural colored top and interior to simulate a machete chopped top. It serves Shore Leave's signature drink, including passion and lime, silver and Jamaican rums, Madeira wine, molasses, and aromatic bitters.
